Feeling Lonely, Feeling Blue

UK duo Goldfrapp return with their new LP Seventh Tree next month. The group have jettisoned the glam-rock, sleaze-electro sound of their last LP Supernature-since aped by Kylie, among others-and have upended perplexed fans with a record of hushed, subdued, pastoral, folktronica lullabies.
It’s fitting then that the video for the LP’s first single and catchiest track “A&E (Accident and Emergency)”–seemingly about an overdose–finds vocalist Allison Goldfrapp out exploring her recovery by embracing nature and dancing, no lie, with tree-people:
In general I’m skeptical of nature and not yet certain about the group’s new direction, when the old one included marvels like this:
Disco horse! That’s my kind of nature. Still “A&E” is a lovely song and an early ‘08 favorite.
